About the event
Biodiversity: Practical measures to help enhance wildlife and address new biodiversity legislation.
This topic has never been more relevant; particularly as local councils have a duty from January 2024 to help tackle the growing biodiversity crisis.
As a Town or Parish Council, it can be a daunting process knowing where to start. Nevertheless, there are pragmatic opportunities to help address this issue; - and it is at a community level where local councils can make a real difference to help enhance biodiversity.
This session identifies the practical changes and steps councils can realistically implement to help enhance biodiversity within your community.
The first part of this webinar will examine: -
· Complying with the new Biodiversity Duty
· Biodiversity in the county and relevant strategies
· Other national policies and the role of principal authorities or agencies
The main focus of the session will address the actions and opportunities available, including:-
· Accessible advice, support and funding
· Liaising and working in partnership with local groups
· Examples of Biodiversity Action Plans
· Case studies of community action
· Managing land to enhance biodiversity
· Engaging and bringing your communities with you
